The Building Blocks
We don’t build skyscrapers by starting at the top and working down – we must first plan carefully, construct a solid foundation and then build up from the bottoms. By the same token, we don’t grow into responsible, caring people suddenly at the age of 18, 21, or 30.
And even if we have the strongest building blocks in the world, one alone cannot hold up a structure – it is the strategic placement of many blocks that allows us to build a structure that remains sound for many decades. It’s simple: a strong house needs a firm foundation.
Providing The Foundation
And that is just what the Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County (CSC) has for 20 years been doing – helping to create the building blocks that contribute to the infrastructure on which children can develop into successful adults. We’re making the best investment in building social capital by providing prevention and early intervention supports that families need to raise children who are physically, mentally, and emotionally ready to be contributing adults. We understand that the real wealth of our community is found in the developmental health of our children and that investment in prevention and early intervention in early childhood will pay significant dividends in health, education, and productivity.
Designing With The Child In Mind
We are all the architects, inventors and planners of our county’s future – we hope all are designing with the child in mind. CSC continues to work toward: a county where every pregnant woman has access to prenatal care; where every child has access to quality child care; that delays and disabilities are identified early; no child is victimized physically or emotionally, and every child has access to caring adults and opportunities to be exposed to arts and culture and other experiences that can help them find their own path in adulthood.
