Indicator: Children Receiving Free and Reduced Lunch
Importance of Indicator
Children who are eligible for free and reduced lunches must be at or below the poverty level, which raises issues about how that economic status affects access to needed health care and other services.
Definition
Free lunch eligibility is earning less than 130% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Reduced lunch eligibility is earning between 130% and 185% of the Federal Poverty Level.
