Program Offered:
Relationship building is one of the 7 program goals Kids@Home focuses on when assisting young people in their journey to self-sufficiency.  Young people are matched with a positive adult to assist them in establishing meaningful connections and the necessary support as most youth are not in contact with their biological families.

Population Served:
Young people 17-23 years of age living in Palm Beach and Broward Counties who are in the process of or have been emancipated from foster care.

Mentor Responsibilities:
Mentors must be at least 30 years of age.  An initial training session is required before being matched with a youth.  Mentors and protégés are matched at an appropriate time at a Kids@Home sponsored event.  Mentors are encouraged to include their family in their relationship with their protégé as appropriate. 

Time Commitment:
Mentors and youth are asked to spend time together at least once per month, maintaining email and telephone contact weekly.  Mentors and youth are asked to be prepared to commit to the relationship for 18 months.
