Program Offered:
The Covenant Villas Youth Enrichment Program is a group mentoring program serving youth who are experiencing problems in school and are at risk of school dropout.  The program is held after school hours to accommodate the youth. Special emphasis will be placed on middle school youth who are already challenged with transitions from childhood to adolescent and other issues such as homework assistance, violence and gang participation, drug usage, self-control, job readiness, and anger management.  The goals of the program are to help youth develop and/or enhance a capacity to have a positive attitude towards school both academically and sociably, and to develop and form successful mentor-mentee relationships.

Population Served:
Youth ages 8 to18 who reside in the Belle Glade area.

Mentor Responsibilities:
A mentor must be 18 years or older and committed to develop supportive relationships with four program participants involved in behavioral and academic struggles.  A mentor must be patient, honest, friendly, respectful, flexible, and interested in having fun.  A mentor must attend at least two trainings per year covering areas such as identifying child abuse, cultural diversity, conflict resolution, communication, building relationships and developmental stages.

Time Commitment:
A mentor must commit to at least one hour per day, one day a week for at least 6 months to one year.
