Designed for the intermediate level grant writer, this workshop will offer hands-on experience in honing your grant-writing skills. Participants will review the basic components of a proposal, successful approaches, and the do's and don’ts of grant writing. Special attention is devoted to writing each technical component of a grant proposal such as the needs statement, evaluation and the budget. This workshop is infused with hands-on exercises that will lead to competence in the grant-writing process.  Participants are asked to bring information about their nonprofit organization and/or program, as well as a prospective grant application so that they can apply principles directly to their current projects. 

This course is only for organizations who are writing proposals from funders as a "charitable/non-profit" organization. Course materials are not intended to serve agencies who are seeking information on how to apply for business grants or individual loans.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Write each component of a proposal
• Identify different types of budgets and create a basic program budget
• Understand the types of evaluation objectives 
• Plan and practice grant-writing in groups
• Identify ways in which to tailor their proposal to fit the funder
