Title:                           Circles Volunteer Recruiter

Salary:                          $14.00-$16.00 Hourly

Job Summary:


The Volunteer Recruiter’s primary role is to work outwardly with the community. Responsibilities will include: building relationships with community leaders and working with different volunteer groups in an effort to recruit and train volunteers for the Circles initiative. Responsible for supporting the efforts of the following volunteer teams:

Resource Team



Community resources are established and maintained as Circles referral sources


Allies, volunteers and Circles Leaders are enrolled

Big View & Cliff Effects

Big View & Cliff Effects team established to support Circle Leaders’ budgets and cliff effect planning, organizing Big View meetings

Jobs and Education

Jobs and Education Team established to help Circles with contacts for educational programs and finding better jobs


Community teams are organized to manage space, secure donated meals, organize childcare, and/or assist the Circles Coach in facilitating meetings



Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Recruit volunteers for Circles

  • Know the community and have influence

  • Recruit Resource Team Leaders and support them in establishing and maintaining their teams

  • Address community groups and other interested parties

  • Ensure confidentiality in all communications – both written and oral – are maintained

  • Meeting with the Circles Coordinator weekly

Additional skills, abilities and other:

  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with Circles Coordinator, Circle Leaders, Allies, Co-workers, Resource team members and the community at large

  • Be able to attract people to Circles and gain their commitment

  • Have the ability to relate authentically and effectively with people from diverse socio-economic class lines

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills


  • Experience working in community organizing or community development

  • Strong recruitment skills

  • Two years’ experience in recruitment

  • Two or four year degree in Human Service field; May exchange years of education for years of experience

  • Experience working with low-income individuals
