For a third year, Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County is releasing funds so local nonprofits can launch their great ideas on behalf of the county’s children and families.
This year’s Great Ideas Initiative encourages nonprofits to:
- Develop creative approaches to solve a problem, manage change or deliver innovation
- Improve/expand upon an existing project that addresses a community's wants or needs
- Inspire young people to pursue their passions, truest intentions or daring ideas
- Fuel innovative partnerships that help families leverage community resources
- Build their own capacity to strengthen or expand their community footprint
The Great Ideas Initiative is available to nonprofits in business for at least two consecutive years with operating budgets of less than $1 million. To apply, nonprofits must be in good standing with the IRS and registered with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to solicit funds. Nonprofits may not be funded by Children's Services Council or have received a grant through the Great Ideas Initiative in previous years.
“In the last two years, this funding initiative has spurred on some amazing projects,” says Council CEO Lisa Williams-Taylor. “We can’t wait to see all the creative, beneficial ideas that will come forward this time around.”
In the past, the Council’s Great Ideas Initiative has funded more than 50 child-focused projects in Palm Beach County – from services to help children in foster care to programming that encourages youth to explore music, art and culture.
Nonprofits interested in applying this year must submit an application by email by 2 p.m., July 10, 2018, that shows how their great idea would enhance the lives of Palm Beach County’s children (prenatal – age 18) and their families.
Funding (up to $43,000) is available in four categories:
- Essential Services
- Community Outreach/Engagement
- Organizational Capacity
