 Monday – Friday  1:45 PM – 5:45 PM



  • PART-TIME  (20-29 hrs. per week)
  • SCHOOL YEAR  2018-2019





$11.00 per hour


Position Summary:

Counselors lead and work with a group of up to 18 elementary school aged children. Counselors ensure the safety of the children as they take them through a daily schedule of activities that includes snack, homework, reading, environmental literacy, program curriculums, computers, cooking, arts & crafts, outdoor sports, board games, and more!

 Essential Functions Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements daily program activities.
  • Provides support and assistance to students during homework time.
  • Planning and leads various students’ indoor/outdoor program curriculums, games, activities, celebrations, clubs, meetings, arts and crafts, etc...
  • Assists with planning and implementation of the monthly activity calendar.
  • Models and implements age-appropriate behavioral techniques and appropriate consequences.
  • Maintains accurate daily attendance records, Identifies student misconduct; completes discipline forms, accident /injuries reports and review allergy lists.
  • Ensures the Quality Improvement System (QIS) standards are consistently met in all activities and participates in the annual QIS assessment process, related trainings and events.
  • Ensures safety, administers basic first aid and medication as needed.
  • Implements emergency color codes and evacuation procedures.
  • Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings, recommended trainings or classes.
  • Assists in keeping program office, cafeteria, classrooms, computer lab, playground and other areas neat and clean.
  • Assure daily FAU’s email review; Appropriate use of walkie-talkies.
  • Follows adopted program policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Must be able to:

  • Work with children with disabilities/behavioral conditions in an inclusive setting.
  • Interpret and apply school and program rules and regulations.
  • Express self clearly and concisely, orally, and in writing.
  • Deep perception/ excellent judgment skills.
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with coworkers.
  • Moderate lifting and carrying, 15-44 pounds.
  • Support the program Mission, Values and Goals.




  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in working with students (School age preferably).
  • 40 hours School-age preferably. (Mandatory requirement after 90 days of employment).
  • CPR/First Aid training preferably.
  • Interest for nature, the environment, education and the outdoors.
