In addition, new project supports previous GII recipients with funding
For the fourth year, Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County is bolstering our community’s grassroots, forward-thinking nonprofits with funding through our Great Ideas Initiative (GII).
This year, organizations that promote marine industry careers, college readiness, mental health peer support, safe sleep, digital addiction intervention and much more are receiving funding. For a complete list of 2019 Great Ideas Initiative recipients, click here.
The Great Ideas Initiative, started by the Council in 2016, provides grants to nonprofits with proposals that enhance the lives of Palm Beach County’s children and their families. Since 2016, the Council has invested nearly $2.5 million in 86 great ideas.
This year, nonprofits chosen through GII will receive up to $34,500 (which includes an additional 15 percent to each grant for administrative costs). To qualify as a GII awardee, nonprofits could not have received a Great Ideas grant before, must be in good standing with the IRS, currently registered as a nonprofit with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and have an annual operating budget of less than $1 million. A total of 16 nonprofits, out of 52 eligible submissions, are receiving nearly $490,000 in funding.
Those nonprofits chosen to receive grants demonstrated the desire to work in partnership with local communities and families to achieve mutually agreed upon goals, using creativity and innovation.
“We just love this opportunity to support creative nonprofits that are doing great work in our community,” says Council CEO Lisa Williams-Taylor. “It gives us a chance to shine the light on those organizations that may be working under the radar but are, nevertheless, doing so much in our community to ensure all children have the chance to grow up healthy, safe and strong.”
New this year, CSC also is supporting previous Great Ideas Initiative recipients with money for sustainability. The goal is to provide resources to help organizations improve and enhance their ability to deliver their mission now, and in the future. Six past GII recipients are receiving a total of $117,400 in Capacity Building Pipeline funds. For a list of Great Ideas recipients, click here.
