Council Update: Council awards almost $1 million in grants to nonprofit organizations

Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County’ board approved Thursday almost $1 million in grants to 30 different grassroots organizations with innovative programs for local children and families.

The grants are part of the Great Ideas Initiative, a push launched in 2016 by Children’s Services Council to support and strengthen local nonprofits that are often the first to recognize and respond to community needs. CSC has invested almost $2.5 million in 86 great ideas since the initiative began.

This year, Great Ideas Initiative recipients include programs that promote mentoring, foster-family workshops, father-daughter relationships and therapy for families who have experienced violence. For a complete list of 2022 Great Ideas Initiative recipients, click here.

“We are so excited by the latest Great Ideas Initiative awardees and the potential for their programs to grow and raise up even more children and families,” says Council CEO Lisa Williams-Taylor.

Nonprofits chosen through the Great Ideas Initiative will receive up to $34,500 (which includes an additional 15 percent to each grant for administrative costs). To qualify as a GII awardee, nonprofits must be in good standing with the IRS, currently registered as a nonprofit with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and have an annual operating budget of less than $1 million. A total of 56 groups applied for the Great Ideas Initiative this year with 30 groups being awarded a combined $975,000.
