CSC News: Pahokee mural unveiling with former NFL players

Former NFL players and Pahokee hometown heroes Rickey Jackson and Antone Smith joined community leaders on Tuesday at the unveiling of a mural painted by the community’s children that celebrates their city’s culture, resiliency and creativity.

Twenty-seven children brought the mural to life this summer, guided by a team of teaching artists. The mural, facing the football practice field, is a collaboration of the City of Pahokee, football coaches and Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County. The mural is part of an ongoing CSC effort to pair teaching artists with Palm Beach County youth for community art projects.

Besides the NFL players, speakers included Palm Beach County Commissioner and Vice Mayor Sara Baxter, Belle Glade Mayor Keith Babb and CSC CEO Dr. Lisa Williams-Taylor.
