Council Update: Child care providers felt valued by CSC, partners during pandemic

CSC staff told the Council at its January meeting that a follow-up survey found that a majority of providers felt their input was valued and that they would like to work with CSC again. 

Council Update: CSC-funded programs meet challenges under difficult circumstances

CSC staff determined that providers were effective in achieving most targets related to maternal/child health and prevention of child abuse and neglect.

Council Update: Council proclaims April Child Abuse Prevention Month

Substance misuse, inadequate supervision, domestic violence and physical injuries were the most common reasons children were removed from their homes. 

Council Update: Council Proclaims May as Mental Health Awareness Month

One in four adults, and one in five teens ages 13-18, experience a serious mental illness. 

Council Update: CSC donates 100,000 books to PBC school children

A media event held May 19 at Berkshire Elementary School in West Palm Beach marked the event, which included Council CEO Lisa Williams-Taylor, who read with some of the children.

Council Update: Council dedicates resources to community mental wellness

CSC also provides trainings and workshops for the staff of agencies we fund as well as our own staff, such as those that address reflective practice and compassion fatigue. 

Council Update: Council awards almost $1 million in grants to nonprofit organizations

Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County approved almost $1 million in grants to 30 different grassroots organizations with innovative programs for local children and families.

Council Update: Board approves re-imagining early childhood education system

Staff proposed long-term changes to its Quality Improvement System, called Strong Minds, over the next two years.   

Council Update: Special Needs Equipment Fund benefits hundreds of Palm Beach County children, families

The Special Needs Equipment Fund is a unique resource that fills a vital gap for Palm Beach County children, birth to age 17, who need durable medical equipment for safety, mobility, vision or communication (speech or hearing).

Council Update: Council served more than 48,500 children in the last fiscal year

Nearly 29,000 children received child care, afterschool programming and summer camp scholarships last fiscal year. This number reflects a return close to pre-pandemic numbers. 

Council Update: 3,600-plus PBC children enjoyed summer camp experiences, thanks to CSC and partners

Families had a choice of four different types of camps.

Council Update: More than 270 PBC youth benefit from enhanced mentoring program

Level Up, which is administered by United Way of Palm Beach County, is available through three mentoring hubs.

Council Update: CSC to implement fatherhood engagement services

Sickle Cell Foundation will work with local fathers – with children from mother's pregnancy up to age 3 – by providing in-person home visits, using an evidence-based curriculum, during non-traditional work hours to meet the needs of families.

The Champion for Children Award is reserved for those who go above and beyond to assist Palm Beach County youth. 

Council Update: CSC, School District, County team up to help students avoid summer slide

Students now have access to laptops over the summer to continue their studies and avoid losing knowledge they gained during the school year.
